An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a role in shaping how Children’s Services are delivered in Merton. Local Authorities across the country are currently planning for implementation of national (children’s) social care reforms. These will be delivered in part through the Families First Partnership Programme (FFPP), that was launched on 1st April 2025 and supported by DFE ringfenced grant funding. Safeguarding partners are working together with families and young people to design, plan and test improved ways of delivering support and taking decisive action where help and protection is required.

The programme is underpinned by strong multi-agency collaboration and a vision to ‘rebalance’ the existing system to ensure that families receive the right support when they need it with a real focus on early intervention. We are in the process of establishing a FFP Programme Management Team to support, coordinate and oversee our work in implementing reforms.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate Programme Officer to join the team and work across the following areas:

  • Support the development of a nimble workforce approach and multi-agency training offer that can adapt as the programme embeds and in line with changing priorities.
  • Implementation of a communications strategy to ensure that the partnership receives timely updates of transformation activity.
  • Coordinate work strand activities with strand leaders and capture outputs.
  • Project administration including report preparation, presentations to stakeholders and support to implement ‘test and trial’ approaches.
