The London Borough of Merton’s award-winning Library & Heritage Service is seeking to appoint a Library Manager for Pollards Hill and Colliers Wood Libraries. As Library Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of staff across two library sites, ensuring consistently high standards of customer service at both locations, and overseeing the effective management of the buildings, including compliance with health and safety requirements.

Applicants must have a minimum of two years’ experience working within a library service, together with at least two years’ direct experience managing staff, including supervision, performance management, rota management, training, and staff development. You will bring strong leadership skills and proven management experience, with the ability to motivate, support, and performance manage your team to achieve and exceed service targets. Experience of setting objectives, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement is essential.

The role also involves developing and promoting services, working collaboratively with key stakeholders, and embracing innovative ways of working. A strong understanding of how libraries contribute to community needs and council priorities is essential.
