Tenancy Sustainment Officer – Role Overview
As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer you will support tenants and landlords within the council's private renting schemes and the private rented sector to sustain tenancies, reduce rent arrears, and prevent homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage large and varied caseloads of often vulnerable customers at risk of losing their homes.
- Liaise with various departments to resolve complex housing issues.
- Provide advice and support to tenants and landlords on lease rights and obligations.
- Maintain personal contact with tenants, landlords and support agencies to maximise engagement and reduce breaches.
- Monitor tenancy end dates, initiate renewal negotiations and keep a sustainment tracer to prevent homelessness.
- Apply a “can do” attitude, prioritise workloads, motivate engagement and promote a friendly, team‑player approach.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Successful candidates must obtain an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
- Required to undergo a Cifas check.
- Demonstrated understanding of landlord responsibilities, case management and the ability to prioritise tasks.
