About Us
Located in the heart of South London, Lambeth Borough is a vibrant community of over 317,600 residents. Stretching from the dynamic neighbourhood of Streatham in the South to the iconic landmarks of Waterloo in the North, we are proud to be the 9th largest borough in London. Our diversity is our strength, with more than 130 languages spoken, making Lambeth the home of the Windrush generation, London's largest LGBTQ+ community, and a thriving Portuguese-speaking community.
About the Team
Are you a committed and highly skilled specialist literacy teacher who wants to make a lasting difference to the outcomes of children and young people across Lambeth? We are looking for an experienced practitioner to help build capacity in our schools, lead evidence-based literacy practice, and provide direct, expert support to pupils with the most complex literacy needs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Strategic Area SENCO, you will deliver staff training in evidence-based literacy practices and coordinate literacy interventions and parent workshops across the borough. You will model high-quality teaching, support schools to select and interpret literacy assessments, and advise on adapting the curriculum for pupils with dyslexia and other literacy-related needs.
Alongside your strategic and training responsibilities, you will maintain a small caseload of pupils with the most complex literacy needs conducting detailed assessments and producing targeted, evidence-informed recommendations for schools.
Successful candidates will be asked to apply for an Enhanced/Standard/Basic Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Further information about the DBS can be found at www.homeoffice.gov.uk/agencies-public-bodies/dbs.
You will be required to undertake a Cifas check. Further information about Cifas can be found here Cifas.
