About the Role

You are a delivery-focused project manager who understands how complex local systems actually work. You are comfortable operating at pace, translating national reform into practical delivery on the ground. You will be central to delivering Families First locally, shaping how partners work together and ensuring change translates into better outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and delivery across cross‑cutting projects
  • Maintain programme governance, RAID (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), and delivery plans
  • Ensure benefits, savings, and outcomes are tracked and escalated appropriately
  • Lead assurance reporting to SLT/CSMT/Spending Control Panel
  • Report to boards and senior leaders with clear, actionable information
  • Protect senior leadership capacity for strategic decision‑making
  • Work across Children’s Services, Education, Health and the voluntary sector

Qualifications and Experience

  • Track record of delivering complex transformation or improvement programmes within a local authority or multi‑agency setting
  • Strong planning discipline, with the ability to turn strategy into clear, deliverable actions
  • Confidence working with senior leaders, partners, and frontline teams; influencing outcomes, not just reporting progress
  • Ability to stay grounded in practice; understand how decisions land for families and practitioners
  • Relevant project/programme management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, Agile certification) or equivalent experience
