As a Rehabilitation Officer for Visual Impairment (ROVI) you will work with blind and partially sighted children, young people, and adults. Your role will focus on helping clients live the life they choose by delivering specialist services that promote independence, mobility, and awareness of sensory issues. You will play a key part in fostering independence, supporting clients’ aspirations, and collaborating with partner agencies in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individual rehabilitation plans for people with visual impairment.
  • Deliver person‑centred training and support to enhance mobility and daily living skills.
  • Advise and support clients in accessing relevant services and assist in exploring community resources.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate care and share expertise.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of visual impairment legislation and safeguarding requirements.
  • Record, audit and report on service provision and outcomes in line with local policy.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate or Diploma level qualification in Visual Impairment Rehabilitation (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with visual impairment in a community setting.
  • Current knowledge of visual impairment legislation and safeguarding principles.
  • Strong communication, organisational and ownership skills.
