About the Team: The Area SENCo Team plays a key role in supporting schools across Lambeth to deliver high-quality, inclusive education for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Working collaboratively with schools, education professionals, health services, and partner agencies, the team promotes early intervention, strengthens inclusive practice, and helps ensure that pupils with SEND achieve positive educational outcomes. Through strategic guidance, training, and targeted support, the team contributes to the borough's commitment to improving attendance, reducing exclusions, and fostering equitable opportunities for all learners.
About the Role: The Area SENCo provides specialist SEND leadership and support across a range of educational settings within Lambeth. The role focuses on enhancing schools' capacity to identify and meet the needs of children and young people with SEND, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice. Working closely with school leaders, SENCOs, and multi-agency partners, the postholder delivers advice, training, and strategic support to improve inclusion, strengthen early intervention approaches, and drive better outcomes for pupils with additional needs. The role combines both operational and strategic responsibilities, contributing to the continuous development of SEND provision across the borough.
Responsibilities:
- Enhance schools' capacity to identify and meet the needs of children and young people with SEND.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and the SEND Code of Practice.
- Work closely with school leaders, SENCOs, and multi-agency partners to deliver advice and training.
- Strengthen early intervention approaches and drive better outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
- Provide strategic support and guidance to improve inclusion and equitable opportunities.
- Contribute to the continuous development of SEND provision across Lambeth.
