You will lead statutory food safety compliance within the borough as part of the Food Safety Team. In this role you support public health by enhancing compliance strategies, guiding underperforming food businesses, and delivering formal interventions. You will act as a deputy to the Food Safety Manager, coordinating cross‑department and external agency work. This is a chance to shape local food safety practice and respond to incidents with impact on residents’ health.
Responsibilities
- Leading on statutory compliance activities across the borough
- Coordinating and supporting the team during emergencies, food safety incidents, or outbreaks with risk assessments and response plans
- Working across departments and with external agencies to develop joint approaches and coordinated enforcement or advisory action
- Staying informed of changes in food safety legislation and best practices to keep regulatory practices robust
- Supporting development and training of junior officers and promoting continuous professional excellence
