About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Regulatory Services team as Head of Regulatory Services. You will act as the Council’s professional lead for Regulatory Services, providing strategic leadership across a broad range of statutory and regulatory functions. As a key service within the Environmental Services directorate, you’ll lead and support teams to deliver high-quality, resident-focused services, ensuring the Council meets its statutory responsibilities while continuing to improve service quality, efficiency and outcomes for residents, businesses and partners. This role offers the opportunity to use your technical expertise, leadership skills and strategic judgement to influence how Regulatory Services develops, ensuring it remains responsive, professional and focused on delivering positive outcomes for Hounslow.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
Regulatory Services plays a vital role in protecting residents, supporting businesses and ensuring compliance across the borough. The service brings together a wide range of statutory functions including licensing, trading standards, food safety, health and safety, regulatory enforcement, animal welfare, contaminated land and pest control. Reporting directly to the Director of Environmental Services, the Head of Regulatory Services will be a member of the Directorate Leadership Team, working across services to improve outcomes for residents, break down organisational barriers and drive high-quality, efficient service delivery. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, elected members, partner agencies, residents, businesses and stakeholders to shape policy, strengthen compliance, develop effective partnerships and lead change across the service.
Leading a team of specialist managers and professional officers, you will provide strategic direction, technical expertise and visible leadership across the service, to help ensure the Council meets its statutory responsibilities while continuously improving the way services are delivered. This is a collaborative, resident-focused team committed to innovation, continuous improvement and delivering positive outcomes for Hounslow residents and businesses.

- You’re a qualified, confident professional lead who can provide clear advice, expertise and direction at a senior level.

- You’re comfortable making decisions, leading change and supporting improvements across multi-function teams and services.
- You’re accredited to one or more regulatory services in scope, organised and analytical, with the ability to interpret complex information and present it clearly to different audiences.
