Our Benefits

About The Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Business Support Officer to play a crucial role in managing the flow of information across our Housing Planning and Resources service. A key focus of this role is the triage, coordination and monitoring of correspondence received through the Smart Access Digital Mailbox, ensuring that every item is accurately indexed, allocated to the correct service lead, and followed through to completion. You will be responsible for maintaining a clear, efficient and well‑structured digital mailbox system that supports timely action and high‑quality service delivery for our tenants. This includes assessing incoming mail, verifying information using internal systems, directing queries to the appropriate teams, and tracking progress to make sure responses and actions are completed within expected timescales. Your attention to detail and commitment to accuracy will help prevent delays, reduce duplication, and ensure that every resident receives a reliable and responsive service. Alongside mailbox management, you will provide wider administrative and financial support, such as preparing reports, coordinating meetings, supporting purchasing and invoice processes on Agresso, and assisting with mailouts and documentation. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across Housing, Regeneration and Environmental Services to ensure a joined‑up approach and identify opportunities for improved processes. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured yet fast‑paced environment, who can balance competing priorities and who takes ownership of their workload. If you are an effective communicator with strong IT skills, a problem‑solver by nature, and someone who takes pride in ensuring actions are completed accurately and on time, we would welcome your application.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

You will be joining the Housing Planning and Resources team - a supportive, knowledgeable and solutions focused group at the heart of the Housing division. The team plays a vital role in shaping how the council delivers its housing objectives, ensuring that our services are compliant, well governed and continuously improving. We combine strong regulatory understanding with a strategic mindset, helping to drive better outcomes through effective housing strategies, clear policies and well managed partnerships. As the centre of information for the wider Housing division, we take pride in knowing our numbers, presenting data clearly and accurately, and identifying opportunities for efficiencies that strengthen our services. Joining us means becoming part of a team that values clarity, integrity and continuous improvement and where your role will genuinely contribute to the quality and effectiveness of housing services for residents.
