About The Role

We are looking to recruit five enthusiastic, committed and experienced EHC Case Officers to join our EHC Assessment & Review Team on a permanent basis. The service has undergone a rapid transformation, and we are looking for proactive individuals to join us in moving forward with our continuous improvement to ensure positive outcomes for some of our most vulnerable children and young people.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The post holder will be part of the Learning Support and Assessment Team and will undertake on behalf of Hounslow, the statutory functions and requirements as set out in the Children and Families Act 2014 in relation to Education Health and Care needs assessments and the annual review of Education, Health and Care Plans for children and young people. The post holder will engage and build respectful, transparent, and effective relationships with children and young people with special educational needs and their families, promoting the voice of the child and young person across services to ensure their special educational needs are met. The post holder will manage an active caseload, develop and maintain positive professional relationships with local partners including education settings, health, and social care services. The post holder will draft and/or amend EHC plans, incorporating key aspects of the professional advice and summarising in line with the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and council guidelines.

About You

  • Significant and demonstrable knowledge and understanding of legislation and guidance, policy and procedures in relation to SEN and disability procedures.
  • At least 18 months direct experience of working within a Local Authority in relevant teams and services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the structure and content of Education, Health and Care plans including legal compliance and quality requirements.
  • Good organisational skills with the capacity to manage competing demands and meet deadlines within timescales.
  • Good communication skills and being able to provide clear, concise and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Be able to act on your own initiative after receiving appropriate direction.
  • The desire and commitment to strive for the best in your work and for the children and young people undergoing an EHC needs assessment or with an EHC plan.
