This role is central to the day‑to‑day operation of a residential establishment, ensuring a clean, safe, and well‑run environment for children and young people. Working as part of the wider residential team, you will maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and laundry provision, supporting the wellbeing and dignity of residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean designated areas of the home including young people’s bedrooms.
  • Carry out laundry duties such as washing, drying, and ironing; safely operate domestic‑type laundry and cleaning equipment.
  • Manage cleaning materials efficiently and follow Health and Safety procedures at all times.
  • Promptly report any hazards, defects, or concerns.
  • Work closely with staff and young people to understand individual needs, adapt work flexibly, and ensure all relevant policies and procedures are followed.
  • Support a safe, welcoming, and hygienic living environment within the residential care setting.

About the Team

The Children’s Safeguarding and Specialist Services team is dedicated to protecting and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people. The team is led by the Residential Group Manager and includes the Residential Manager, Deputy Managers, Senior Residential Support Workers, Residential Support Workers, a Chef/Cook, a Handyperson, and a Domestic Cleaner.
