Sandbanks Day Centre provides daycare services for adults living with autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and older people with dementia. The service provides quality care and supports residents in meaningful activities tailored to meet their needs. The centre empowers residents to meet their full potential, supports independence and ensures dignity and safety.

We are looking to recruit a warm, creative, compassionate, energetic and motivated care worker with experience of informal caring or experience in a workplace. The ideal candidate will be passionate about implementing and engaging in person‑centred activities, fostering a joyful and interactive environment. In return, you will work in a supportive team, receive full training through our induction programme and a competitive package.

Responsibilities

  • Support residents by maintaining their dignity, independence and well‑being, and safeguarding their physical and mental health.
  • Work alongside other care workers, reporting to the Senior Management team – the Senior Care Worker, the Assistant Manager and the Service Manager.
  • In partnership with nurses, the Positive Behaviour Support Team and social workers, provide high‑quality care and support to residents with different needs and abilities.
  • Create a positive, stimulating environment in the Day Centre, enabling residents to enjoy a variety of activities and social interactions.
  • Learn new skills and gain valuable experience in the care sector.

The role is 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am – 5pm.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Formal certificates or previous work experience in care are desirable but the most important factor is a caring attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Previous caring experience with family, friends or neighbours, or skills such as music, gardening, cooking or arts and crafts are welcomed.
  • You will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
