About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our Adoption and Permanence Team as an Assistant Team Manager. In this role, you’ll primarily work on Special Guardianship and Kinship assessments to find appropriate permanent carers for our most vulnerable children. You will develop skills in understanding the impact of trauma and loss on children and what skills potential carers need to support children with unique experiences. You will also assess their readiness for this responsibility.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In

The team currently comprises a Team Manager, 4 SG and Kinship assessing social workers, 1.5 panel administrators, and 1 Business Support Officer. The team is small, diverse in ethnicity and experience, close-knit, stable, and engaged. They take pride in producing robust, quality assessments and work well together and with management.

About You

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Ensure the team continues to deliver high-quality special guardianship and kinship placements.
  • Manage services for children requiring permanency planning and assessments of connected persons as Kinship carers or as Special Guardians.
  • Support the Team Manager and Head of Service in managing and supervising social work professionals to deliver excellent childcare practice.
