Job Description
Project Manager – Salary Grade 9 £52,584 – £56,646pa
Fixed term/Secondment for initial 12 months, with possibility to extend.

We are looking for Project Managers with a strong background in transformational change to work as part of a team delivering projects across the Council.
You will be given a wide range of projects to deliver, such as implementing a new policy for Home to School Transport, delivering Transitions services improvement plan for Children\’s and Adults Social Care, implementing new business systems across council services, collaborating with the Digital Team on D365 development/enhancements, leading on refreshing the Contact Centre telephony solution and procurement of the Registrar online booking system.
About The Job
The main duties and responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Ensure that projects are well-defined with clear scope and deliverables
  • Create project plans including resource and benefit plans and ensure that risks, issues, dependencies and assumptions are identified and managed
  • Identify stakeholders and put in place a strategy to manage and communicate with them to ensure buy in and support for projects
  • Manage project from day-to-day using the Council’s portfolio management tool. Report progress in accordance with the schedule required by the Programme Office. Manage risks, issues assumptions and dependencies, escalating where necessary
  • Ensure that projects have robust governance structures and processes to facilitate transparent reporting and clear accountability
  • Manage project budgets producing forecasts and actual. Mange deviations from forecasts and escalate where necessary
  • Manage any suppliers (internal or external) ensuring that they have clear accountability and plans

About You
Experience:

  • Experience of change management in local government
  • Experience of delivering change/projects in or across different council services e.g. Children\’s and Adult Services, Social Housing, Environmental Services, Planning and Enforcement.
  • Experience of delivering a number of projects using project management techniques to meet corporate priorities
  • Experience of working within matrix management structures
  • Experience of resource and financial management
  • Experience of working with complex multi-agency partnerships and stakeholder groups, managing ambiguity and complexity
  • Experience of using IT (e.g., Excel, MS Project) in order to plan and manage projects, analyse and aggregate data, manage budgets, build financial models, and develop and track savings
  • This role will be carried out via hybrid working, consisting of a combination of remote working and office based working. Face to face engagement and communication sessions will be necessary.
