Service Manager Principal Family Therapist
About The Role
As the Service Manager Principal Family Therapist, you will lead Havering's Systemic Team and contribute to high‑quality, relationship‑based, evidence‑informed practice across Starting Well.
You will provide clinical supervision, coaching, training, support specialist assessments, offer systemic consultation, and help operational teams turn complex family situations into clear, thoughtful and effective plans of support.
You will also have space to think strategically, drive quality assurance, audit activity and develop inclusive services with partners.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Systemic Team’s delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based family practice.
- Provide clinical supervision and coaching to Family Therapists and other practitioners.
- Support specialist assessment and direct work for children and families.
- Offer systemic consultation to frontline practitioners and operational staff.
- Turn complex family situations into clear, thoughtful, and effective plans of support.
- Drive quality assurance, audit activity, and strategy for service improvement.
- Collaborate with partner agencies and stakeholders to advocate for resources and policy changes.
Qualifications
- UK recognised Systemic Psychotherapy/Family Therapy qualification at Master’s level and UKCP registered.
- UK recognised qualification in Systemic Supervision or equivalent, and membership with UKCP and Association of Family and Systemic Therapists.
- Experience of operational leadership of diverse statutory teams in complex or multi‑agency settings.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance and practice relating to child social care.
- Proven track record of coaching, mentoring, and supervising practitioners to deliver positive outcomes for children and families.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and IT skills with ability to produce high‑quality analytical reports.
- Highly organised, resilient, confident in setting clear priorities and delivering to performance targets.
- Strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion; ability to work sensitively with diverse families.
