Family Practitioner – Starting Well – MASH & Family Intervention/Early Help & Targeted Family Support
An exciting opportunity to join our Early Help Service as a Family Practitioner. You will work with children and families to provide targeted, individual and group interventions, improving outcomes for children and families, including intensive work with those in care.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of families with additional and multiple needs and attend court to give information on specific cases.
- Carry out whole family focused assessments of children and families, supporting them in home and community and building on strengths.
- Work directly with children and young people ensuring their voice is heard and incorporated into assessments and planning.
- Utilise training such as NVR (Non‑Violent Resistance Programme) to facilitate parenting workshops.
- Collaborate with the adolescent safeguarding service to support young people experiencing exploitation concerns (CCE, CSE) and transition from care to home.
- Travel to visits and meetings across the borough and nationally when required.
- Maintain good performance management and meet agreed performance indicators.
- Participate in regular 1‑2‑1 and case supervisions, performance appraisals and attend skills development sessions in line with London Borough of Havering policy.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience delivering high‑quality, outcome‑focused support to children, young people and families.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships and partnerships, internally and externally.
- Experience in systemic assessments and co‑producing effective outcome‑focused plans with families.
- Experience working with children, young people and families from a variety of backgrounds in either public or voluntary sector.
- Experience delivering effective parenting programmes and supporting practical parenting tasks.
- Experience preparing reports and assessments for children, including presenting to court.
- Effective engagement and communication with other agencies to carry out comprehensive assessments addressing identified needs for sustainable long‑term change.
