Job Purpose
- To support lawyers in providing legal advice to the Councils, Members, and Officers, and support legal solutions to enable the Councils to achieve their goals.
- To assist lawyers and senior lawyers in delivering high-quality, solution-focused legal work across multiple disciplines and sites, supporting customers in different organizations.
- To provide legal and administrative support specifically in Property and Regeneration.
Specific Responsibilities
- Support lawyers with a caseload of legal work, including research, drafting pleadings, statements, correspondence, preparing bundles, instructions to counsel, and liaising with customers and third parties.
- Work autonomously to produce creative legal solutions, with supervision as needed.
- Assist with strategic projects across multi-functional teams as required.
- Carry out advocacy on preliminary matters when needed, and follow procedures for instructing external support.
- Collaborate with the Administrative Support Team to ensure support tasks are completed effectively.
- Provide legal advice to customers, liaise with other parties, and make appropriate decisions independently.
- Work some evenings, weekends, and public holidays to meet service requirements and represent the Councils effectively.
- Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrate a high level of competence with a legal qualification up to degree level or relevant experience in legal practice related to Property and Regeneration.
- Basic understanding of local government operations, legal challenges, and the context of local government law related to Property and Regeneration.
