About The Role
We are looking for a qualified and motivated Environmental Health Officer to join our Food and Health & Safety Team at Havering. In this role, you will play a key part in protecting public health by delivering a programme of food hygiene, food standards and health & safety inspections, alongside responding to complaints and service requests across the borough. You will work with a wide range of businesses and stakeholders, providing clear advice, taking proportionate enforcement action, and contributing to safer communities across Havering.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out food hygiene and standards inspections in line with the Food Law Code of Practice
- Investigate complaints relating to food safety and health & safety matters
- Undertake accident investigations/health and safety complaints and inspections
- Investigate infectious disease control activity
- Take enforcement action where required, including serving notices and preparing prosecution cases
- Provide input into licensing and planning consultations
- Manage a varied caseload effectively
About You
- Qualified Environmental Health Practitioner with relevant post‑qualification experience
- Experienced in enforcement under Health & Safety legislation, and confident in making proportionate decisions
- Strong communicator, well organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively
- Competent under the Food Law Code of Practice and be able to demonstrate ongoing CPD
