About Us
The in-house Counter Fraud team provides a counter fraud service to the London Borough of Havering to combat fraud against the Council and protect public funds. The team aims to deliver effective investigation and prevention of fraud; we are growing and recruiting a Data Analyst/Intelligence Officer to support our goals.
About The Job
We seek a Data Analyst / Intelligence Officer with high standards and innovative thinking, eager to develop their career in the public sector fraud space. You will work alongside Counter Fraud Investigators, proactively identifying tenancy, corporate, and non-benefit frauds against the Council, and assist in preparing cases for criminal prosecution, civil action, or disciplinary procedures.
Experience with data analytic tools is desirable as we are expanding our use of such tools. Training opportunities will be provided to support your professional development in counter fraud.
About You
- Experience in criminal investigations, including interviews under caution, managing evidence, and preparing materials for disciplinary or criminal proceedings.
- Experience in Housing Fraud.
- Experience using Open Source Intelligence.
- Ability to work as part of a team and demonstrate initiative.
- Drive and enthusiasm for the role.
- Knowledge of Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996, Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, Housing Act 1985, Human Rights Act 2000, and Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
