Responsibilities
- Plan, organise and deliver a range of group and individual activities to enable people to have a choice and chance to participate in various activities.
- Work with residents in supported housing to ensure that all individuals are supported to participate in the activities of their choice.
- Establish and maintain positive links with community-based organisations and facilities to provide a wide range of activities.
- Develop an excellent working knowledge of the full range of welfare opportunities and benefits available.
- Train team members to plan and deliver a range of activities.
- Establish and build links with volunteer organisations to gain their assistance.
- Work with individual tenants to maximise their finances and ensure they receive all the benefits they are entitled to, liaising with the DWP and other agencies on their behalf when necessary.
- Signpost individual health and community-based services, with knowledge of the NHS and Social Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Health and Safety legislation.
- Promote independence for vulnerable older people through activities that meet their needs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Knowledge of welfare and benefits, and the ability to signpost health and community-based services.
- Experience in working with vulnerable older people and knowledge of ways to promote their independence through activities of their choice.
- Knowledge of the NHS and Social Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Health and Safety legislation.
- Ability to liaise with the DWP and other agencies on behalf of clients.
- Enhanced DBS check (required).
- Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
