We are looking for an organised and self‑motivated individual to join our Networks Team based in Hackney Central. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, you will ensure that the Council’s obligations under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 are met.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the full lifecycle of Permanent Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs).
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and internal procedures.
  • Assessing and approving applications.
  • Reviewing plans/maps of restrictions.
  • Coordinating with stakeholders such as other internal officers and departments, contractors, emergency services and relevant organisations.

In this role you will review applications and plans that make permanent changes to the public highway. Ideally, you will already have a good working knowledge of all current legislation and a methodical approach that enables you to work efficiently. Experience in a similar fast‑paced environment would be an advantage. Competent IT user with good knowledge of packages such as Google Docs & Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel, and mapping systems like Traffweb or Park Map. You will be customer‑focused and possess excellent communication skills.
