Hackney is seeking a Senior Public Health Practitioner to help reduce health inequalities, promote better health and wellbeing, and lead on the delivery of oral health and nutrition programmes and projects.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal teams in early years and education and with external partners across early years settings, schools, voluntary sector and local residents to lead the efficient delivery of health promotion programmes.
- Manage logistics, including supply chains, monitoring and evaluation, to support effective delivery of programmes.
- Engage with diverse populations and adapt communication style to meet the needs of different cultural groups.
- Use a data‑driven approach to ensure programmes reach the populations that most need them.
- Work flexibly and adapt to evolving demands, managing tasks both independently and within teams.
Qualifications
- Degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent level of public health experience.
- Understanding of basic community engagement, behaviour change and public health principles.
- Experience with project management, delivery and measuring impact of health promotion programmes.
- Proven track record in tackling health inequality and leadership in both autonomous and team contexts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to diverse populations.
- Strong knowledge of systems and practices within Local Authorities, early years education and the voluntary and community sectors.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Commissioning experience desirable; expected to work at Public Health Skills and Careers Framework Levels 4 to 5.
- DBS check will be required for this post.
