Responsibilities
- Engage and support victims, sharing information about court and out of court outcomes, explaining opportunities for victim engagement and input, and signposting to support services.
- Maintain liaison with partner agencies and stakeholders, including the Community Gangs Unit, ensuring the victim service repairs harm and enables the victim’s voice to be heard throughout the Youth Justice Service.
- Record all work accurately on the case management system, aligning processes with the Victim Code.
- Apply Restorative Justice principles to facilitate voluntary and informed involvement, supporting victims and young people in their journey toward safety and inclusive participation.
- Provide direct interventions with children and families, fostering trauma-informed and anti-racist practice and ensuring amends are made and harms repaired.
Qualifications
- Highly experienced practitioner with knowledge of the Youth Justice framework, current legislation, guidance, and restorative justice.
- Strong communication skills, empathetic and open, able to take diverse needs into account and listen to people harmed by crime.
- Willingness to support victims and families, with a commitment to equality and inclusiveness.
- Proficiency in record keeping and use of a case management system.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
