IMPORTANT: This post requires a regular shift working between 6am and midnight, 7 days a week. This is implemented on a 4-day working week (9 working hours per day + 1 hour for lunch) based on a 3-week pattern with 5 consecutive days off every 3 weeks. Working patterns and rotas are subject to regular review and change.
This role is a Road & Traffic Enforcement Officer on foot rather than a mobile position. Hackney Parking Services lead in the parking industry with focus on best practices and performance. The Council has recently insourced parking enforcement operations and seeks to recruit into a role pivotal to creating, delivering, and implementing the in-house service.
In this challenging and rewarding role you will need strong communication and networking skills to work directly with residents and partner services. A proactive ethos, strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, and effective conflict management will help you manage a varied caseload and collaborate to address needs and achieve positive outcomes. You will have demonstrable experience of working in an agile context and the ability to work from different locations across Hackney, outdoors in all weather, to meet community needs.
Responsibilities- Undertake the statutory duties of Civil Enforcement Officer under the Traffic Management Act 2004, managing road and traffic matters and enforcing parking contraventions by issuing Penalty Charge Notices.
- Manage removal operations of vehicles parked in contravention and assist the Council with reporting of other problems and issues as described in the job description.
- Work in collaboration with residents and key partner services to support enforcement and street management objectives.
- Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
- Previous experience of parking enforcement is not mandatory; full training will be provided on the job.
- Ability to work outdoors across Hackney, in all weather conditions, and to travel between locations as required.
- Ability to work in an agile context and adapt to changing patterns and rotas.
