Hackney Council is looking for an exceptional Community Safety and Enforcement Principal Enforcement Officer (PEO) within our Community Safety, Enforcement and Business Regulation Service in a 1-year Fixed Term Contract. You will be part of a broader and more inclusive service, in the delivery of joined-up, accountable and timely management of enforcement action in line with legislation and Council Policies and Procedures.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who can demonstrate that they can undertake case management under pressure and carry out a wide range of enforcement duties in relation to Noise, Community Safety, Anti-Social Behaviour, Street Scene, and environmental enforcement (Fly tipping, Graffiti, Fly posting, and Littering, Highway obstructions etc.), and wider general public realm enforcement as required. You will be assigned wards to address localised problems, challenging and changing behaviours to contribute to the achievement of the Mayor’s priorities, and the Council’s corporate objectives.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to deal with complainants and victims of Anti-Social Behaviour skillfully and sensitively, which helps progress the cases, listen to concerns, and manage expectations. You must also be able to maintain accurate service-specific records to ensure compliance with our reporting obligations. You will need a proactive approach, be driven and have excellent communication skills.

You will be reporting to an Enforcement Manager and working alongside a team of other Principal Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers (in uniform), and Technical Support, as well as the wider Community Safety and Business Regulation Service, to provide the best service possible to residents and the public in the London Borough of Hackney. You will be required to successfully pass an enhanced DBS check.
