Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity until 31 March 2029. The Community Gangs Team (CGT) supports individuals and communities to reduce gang and serious violence through prevention, diversion, and enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage and deliver hyperlocalised community place‑based projects and initiatives designed to proactively reduce crime, anti‑social behaviour, robbery, gang and serious violence across Hackney.
- Ensure end‑to‑end project delivery within agreed timescales and budgets, and drive multi‑agency collaboration to empower the community and sustain long‑term safety improvements.
- Proactively identify hotspots, problem‑solve with a view to reducing crime, ASB and serious gang and youth violence, and empower the community.
- Secure and coordinate support from partner organisations and departments; build and maintain professional working relationships.
- Brief staff at the start of projects and prepare and present closing reports to senior managers, councillors and the Mayor.
- Attend relevant meetings to maintain an up‑to‑date working knowledge of crime, ASB and serious gang and youth violence in Hackney.
Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge of proactively developing and delivering crime and ASB reduction projects, including gang reduction initiatives and the issues impacted or caused by gang involvement.
- Experience working with gangs and serious youth violence and the youth justice system.
- Familiarity with a multi‑agency partnership approach, promoting integration and multidisciplinary working; participation in group workshops, panel meetings, intelligence and multi‑agency meetings.
- Sound working knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and guidance, including the Crime and Disorder Act 1988, the Children Act 1989 & 2004, the Crime and Policing Act 2006 and 2017, Pan London Safeguarding guidance, information sharing legislation, the Data Protection Act and GDPR.
- Ability to make good, sound decisions based on legislation, experience and circumstances, taking into account proportionality and necessity.
- Enhanced DBS and National Police Vetting will be required.
- Flexible to work some evenings and weekends as necessary.
