A vacancy has arisen in the Finance Business Partnering team for a Finance Manager to lead on the financial support provided to the Council and senior management in respect of Environment and Communities. The role reports to the Head of Finance and is the finance lead supporting these service areas, whilst overseeing a team of 5 staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert financial advice and support to the Environment and Communities Directorate in the provision of accurate and timely financial information including developing strategic financial plans, budget setting, financial reporting and supporting and challenging decision making.
  • Provide information using analysis that clearly presents the financial performance, cost drivers, levers for change and implications to senior management and non-financial staff. To go beyond the financial information, explore what operations or activities lead to the financial outputs and hence understand the service in-depth.
  • Work closely with finance colleagues to support corporate reporting and other requirements including; contributing to the overall budget process, financial monitoring, closure of accounts and service wide initiatives and improvements.
  • Ensure robust financial controls, processes and accurate record keeping. Lead on continuous service improvement.
  • Staff support and management.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountants, or at final stage with an expectation to be fully qualified within 6 months of joining.
  • Strong business partnering skills, commercial acumen and an in-depth understanding of the finance and funding requirements of the Environment and Communities functions within a local authority.

Working arrangement

Enfield offers a hybrid working arrangement. For this role there is an expectation to be in the office on a regular basis to meet business needs including attendance at key departmental meetings.
