Job description

The Schools Property team is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic built asset professional to work in a principal role in a small team on a wide range of schools’ property and related programmes and projects.

About the Role

This role is the principal lead commissioning and instructing role for schools built asset programmes and projects. This is a key role in the Schools Property team within Children’s Services under the leadership and direction of the Head of Education Infrastructure and Commercial Services.

In this role, you will have responsibility for leading significant works capital programmes and related projects and contracts across the service. You will ensure that council and departmental strategies, policies and procedures are implemented in accordance with the council’s aims and objectives. You will formulate strategies, plans and bids for capital programmes. You will lead and manage team members, consultants and contractors.

The role involves prioritising capital investment to buildings, being the professional client for multi-disciplinary consultants and construction and building services. The role is responsible for capital expenditure forecasts and reporting, budget management, control and monitoring, including cross council funding streams.

You will ensure that robust programme, project, contract and governance arrangements are in place, and support with service planning and delivery of key priorities set out the Ealing Council Plan. You will lead schools’ programmes that may have cross-directorate importance, linking into corporate programmes and budget setting. You will be an important part of the support that we provide to Cabinet members and Leaders in decision making and in the engagement of internal and external stakeholders.

This role will provide the successful candidate with the broad experience of working across related areas.

This is a full-time and permanent post with flexible working arrangements which requires site visits within the borough and regular attendance with colleagues in the office.
