About Camden

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children, young people, and families? In the SEND & Inclusion Service, we aim high for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and we’re looking for skilled professionals with passion and aspirations to drive change. These roles are pivotal in ensuring that we deliver an exceptional service, strengthening our relationships with families, schools, and communities.

How You’ll Be Involved

As part of the SEND & Inclusion Service you will deliver high outcomes for children and young people with SEND. You will foster a supportive, relational approach with families, schools, and education providers. You will work collaboratively with children, young people, families and partners to ensure they’re active participants in the development and delivery of SEND services. This role involves managing a team of SEND Case Officers to deliver a high-quality service that meets statutory requirements, including Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments and annual reviews. You will oversee complex cases, collaborate with partners, and ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging with families, schools and providers
  • Ensuring compliance with the Children and Families Act 2014 and SEND Code of Practice
  • Acting as a key liaison for challenging cases
  • Providing reports to senior leadership to shape service delivery, policies and processes

The role requires a proactive approach to improving service quality through data use, feedback and reflective practices. You will work directly with educational settings and relevant professionals, ensuring children and young people receive the appropriate support to meet their holistic needs. This position also involves mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative, person-centred approach to decision-making.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

All About You

We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of SEND policy, the Children and Families Act 2014, and the SEND Code of Practice. You must have experience in drafting EHC plans, co-producing solutions with families, and ensuring high-quality statutory compliance. You will be skilled in managing sensitive situations, collaborating with health and social care providers, and delivering measurable improvements in SEND outcomes. The ability to lead a team, supervise staff effectively and drive quality improvements is essential.

What We Offer

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits, including flexible working, 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), family leave, loan schemes and access to our staff networks. We also have an incredible pensions scheme.

Inclusion and Diversity

We want Camden Council to be a great place to work and to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and other ethnicities, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equality and justice remain at the heart of everything we do.
