We are seeking a dynamic Project Manager (Engineering and Construction) to lead the delivery of the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP). Employed by London Borough of Camden, you will be based in North London Waste Authority (NLWA), serving Camden and six other north London boroughs that make up its membership. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, environmentally sustainable infrastructure serving over two million residents across seven London boroughs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant programme that prioritises community pride, social value, and environmental excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project delivery across engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Manage quality assurance, risk, and stakeholder engagement.
- Ensure seamless operational transition with London Energy Ltd.
- Drive social value outcomes including apprenticeships and local employment.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of expert delivery partners.
- Ensure compliance with public sector and environmental regulations.
About you
You’re a degree-qualified project professional with a strong track record in delivering large-scale infrastructure projects from design to operation. You understand the complexities of waste infrastructure and are confident managing safety, quality, and stakeholder relationships in a public sector environment.
You bring:
- Experience in complex, multi-million-pound project delivery
- Strong awareness of safety and operational integration
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Knowledge of contracts (e.g., NEC, IChemE) and project tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera)
- A collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on public value
- Ideally, a recognised project management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM, PMP)
Working for NLWA
The post-holder will work for NLWA and be based in Edmonton EcoPark but be employed by London Borough of Camden through whom NLWA staff are employed. NLWA’s office is in Tottenham Hale and the North London Heat and Power Project (NLHPP) is located at Edmonton EcoPark.
