Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because we’re not just home to the UK’s fast‑growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. As the People & Inclusion division we are focused on ensuring we are best placed to support the organisation to imagine a different future and develop the organisation to deliver on it. This means having strong human‑centred relationships and being empowered to experiment.

The role will support the people relationship issues of a portfolio or group of services providing expert HR advice and support. It will work in partnership with their service areas to develop and maintain positive employee relationships, increase engagement and create a positive organisational culture. In this role you will ensure expert, consistent advice and decision‑making in employment practice including employment legislation. This will include the management and support of complex cases, large‑scale/complex organisational change, organisational development, workforce planning and resourcing, pay and reward, job evaluations, learning and development. You will bring extensive experience in this area to the role. You’ll have a ‘can‑do’ attitude and take personal responsibility to deliver organisational priorities.

All About You

To be successful in this role, you must have knowledge of employment legislation and trends. Detailed knowledge (typically gained through a recognised professional qualification e.g. CIPD) of professional HR practice and procedure. Understanding and commitment to inclusive relational and restorative practices. Excellent communication skills and be able to build and maintain rapport at all levels across the organisation to keep ahead of emerging HR specialist trends, changes, ideas and innovations. You will also have a good level of IT skills – MS Office (Excel, Outlook, etc).

What We Offer

At Camden, you’ll receive a host of benefits. From flexible working to 27 days annual leave (+ bank holidays!). We also know that a work–life balance is extremely important, so we also offer family leave, loan schemes and access to our incredible staff networks. We also have an incredible pensions scheme.

Inclusion and Diversity

We want Camden Council to be a great place to work and to ensure that our communities are represented across our workforce. A vital part of this is ensuring we are a truly inclusive organisation that encourages diversity in all respects, including diversity of thinking. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and those of Other Ethnicities, LGBT+, disabled and neurodiverse communities to make a real difference to our residents so that equality and justice remains at the heart of everything we do.

Anonymised Application

In keeping with Camden’s commitment to inclusion the recruitment to this role is anonymised and supports the objective of reducing the impact of unconscious bias.
