Experienced Social Worker (Job Ref:4055)

Salary: £49,167.50 – £52,329 (based on experience) + Travel Allowance, SWE Reimbursement & Retention Payments of £2,000 in Years 3 & 4.

Responsibilities

  • Versatile, agile, and experienced social worker dealing with children, young people and families with complex needs.
  • Manage a caseload including child in need work, child protection, initiating court proceedings where required, and undertaking a range of duties on behalf of the Department.
  • Manage a manageable caseload comprising Child Protection, Children in Need cases and some court work.
  • Undertake complex assessments of children and families, formulate intervention plans that address identified needs.
  • Provide direct social work intervention to children and families, ensuring their views and wishes are incorporated into care planning and intervention.
  • Identify and address risk; work alongside families to ensure children’s safety, development and wellbeing are paramount.
  • Post exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act; requires an Enhanced DBS and benefits from the DBS update service.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified and accredited social worker with current Social Work England registration and at least two years post‑qualifying experience.
  • Demonstrable experience writing complex assessments, designing and implementing care/protection plans, completing court work, and monitoring and reviewing such plans over time.
  • Sound knowledge of the legislative framework relating to children, particularly the Children Act 1989 and all legislation related to Children in Need.
  • For CYPDS: knowledge of disabled children legislation, SEND statutory guidance and the Leaving Care Act 2000.
