What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved
The PCV Drivers are responsible for transporting clients with differing needs from one location to another. The main objective for the PCV Drivers is the safety and comfort of all of their passengers for the duration of their journey. The post holder will drive through local areas and make stops as appropriate to pick up and drop off passengers in line with the planned schedule.
The role will primarily focus on the day-to-day transport service driving large vehicles such as buses and coaches that can accommodate more than 16 passengers, ensuring that all service users are transported safely to and from school, and or to a day centre. The role also requires individuals to have experience of working with disabled children and/or vulnerable adults and the ability to communicate effectively and undertake physical aspects of the role.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.
What We’re Looking For / Qualifications
- Current PSV (cat D) driving license, (CPC)/Driver Qualification Card (DQC) alongside a valid Tachograph card.
- Previous demonstrable experience of working with Special Educational Needs children or Vulnerable Adults (ranging from infancy to adulthood) and experience within a busy team and demanding environment, with the ability to meet distinct deadlines.
- In-depth knowledge of applying sympathy, empathy and assertiveness to manage a cohort of children whilst transporting them; excellent customer care skills and a commitment to high service standards.
- Ability to assess and manage risk and an understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices, ensuring safeguarding policies are at the forefront of the role.
- A safe, reliable driving approach with safety as a paramount priority at all times.
