About CATS
Camden Accessible Travel Solutions (CATS) is the Council’s in‑house transport service based at York Way Depot, King’s Cross. It is part of the Environment and Sustainability Directorate and delivers a range of transport services, including accessible buses for children and adults, taxi bookings, fleet maintenance, an MOT service, driver training, fuel provision, and the management of concessionary travel schemes.
What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved
The post holder will assist clients with differing needs during their travel arrangements within Camden Transport. The role focuses on ensuring safe transport of users to and from school or a day centre, seeing to their safety and well‑being throughout the journey, and handling physical aspects of the job such as mounting and dismounting vehicle, dealing with disabilities and maintaining a hygienic vehicle environment.
- Assist clients with dressing and emergency toileting, as required, and help them into the vehicle.
- Manoeuvre clients, with a driver or escort, using appropriate equipment and techniques, ensuring safe entry, travel and exit of transport at all times.
- Apply health and safety standards in all client interactions and physical assistance.
- Collaborate with the driver to keep the vehicle interior and exterior clean and tidy to required standards, including hygiene control.
- Wear personal protective equipment and uniform as required.
All About You
Successful candidates must possess a basic level of literacy, relevant experience in a similar role, and general fitness to carry out manual handling tasks. Candidates should be ready to obtain First Aid Training, Manual Handling and PATS (Passenger Assistant Training Scheme) within the first six months of employment. Experience working with Special Educational Needs children or vulnerable adults, in a busy and demanding environment, understanding safeguarding and child protection practices, and possessing excellent customer‑care skills will be highly desirable.
