Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Para Professional (Teaching Assistant) to join our supportive and inclusive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a caring and committed individual to support children with SEND within a mainstream school environment. Working closely with teachers, the SENCO and wider professionals, the successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience, knowledge and training in supporting children with SEND and who are passionate about making a positive difference to children's educational and personal development. Darrick Wood Infant & Nursery School is a vibrant infant and nursery school located in Orpington, within the London Borough of Bromley. Set within beautiful grounds, our school benefits from extensive outdoor learning opportunities, including Forest School provision. Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with SEND within mainstream classroom
- Work closely with the SENCO, teaching staff and external professionals to support pupil progress
- Deliver targeted learning and intervention support for individuals and small groups
- Help pupils access learning, develop independence and build confidence
- Support individual programmes and learning targets set by teachers and external agencies
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and carers
- Liaise effectively with external professionals, including therapists and support services
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils’ emotional, social and academic development
- Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school
- Experience working with children with SEND within a school or educational setting
- Knowledge, training and experience in supporting children with SEND
- Understanding of inclusive practice and strategies to support additional needs
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
- Patient, calm and adaptable approach when supporting children
- Flexible and adaptable approach to supporting the changing needs of pupils
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude to supporting learning
