We are looking for Social Workers with post qualifying mental health experience in an Adult Mental Health Service.

The London Borough of Bromley, in partnership with Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, are looking to recruit a full-time Social Worker to work within our Community Mental Health team based in Carlton Parade, Orpington. An AMHP qualification is desirable, but not essential; however, training will be made available when your knowledge, skills and experience allow.

The team currently has a Social Worker vacancy in the ICMP (Intensive Case Management in Psychosis). This team has an exceptionally experienced and supportive senior social worker to offer guidance, development and supervision to the successful applicant.

Bromley mental health social workers work closely with their community health colleagues as part of a fully integrated multi-disciplinary team, to support adults with mental health difficulties and their carers. Your role will be to offer support to both community and in-patient services, focusing on working together with service users and their wider support networks to enhance their independence and quality of life.

You will be expected to undertake a wide variety of holistic duties and tasks, including:

  • Holding a manageable and varied caseload of service users
  • Occasionally working on duty as part of a team rota
  • Undertaking Care Act assessments to determine eligibility
  • Supporting the S117 needs which fall outside of the framework
  • Making safeguarding enquiries
  • Considering capacity and best interest decision making as appropriate

If an AMHP, you will also work approximately 1-week in every 5 or 6, as part of the highly supportive and well-resourced centralised AMHP service, based offsite in the hospital grounds.

We aim to develop and maintain a culture of continuous learning here in Bromley and will actively promote this throughout your employment, whilst ensuring through good quality supervision both managerial and professional that you are developing and delivering on the skills and knowledge required for the post. Both AMHP training and Practice Educator training will be available to you alongside various more bite-size training delivered by both the Local Authority and the Trust.

The successful candidate must have post qualifying mental health experience in an Adult Mental Health Service and must be willing to work at Carlton Parade in Orpington 5-days a week.

If you have the required social work qualifications and Social Work England registration, and a real desire to support people with mental health issues, we would really like to hear from you.
