Overview

In this role you will assess, support and supervise foster carers and kinship carers within the Fostering South East Hub. You join a cross-borough team aimed at coordinating fostering recruitment, marketing and assessment across Lewisham, Bromley, Bexley, Greenwich and Southwark. Based in the central Hub in Greenwich, you will undertake form F assessments and provide training and supervision to carers, contributing to Bromley’s mission to improve outcomes for children and families. This is a permanent post that supports a national drive to recruit more foster carers and strengthen partnership working.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake assessment work including Connected Persons, Special Guardianship, Form F and Non-Agency assessments
  • Provide Supervising Social Work support to temporarily approved carers
  • Conduct home visits, attend meetings and events, and complete office-based documentation
  • Coordinate and deliver training and supervision to foster, kinship carers and supported lodgings hosts
  • Ensure practice in line with Regulations, National Minimum Standards and best practice
  • Collaborate with partner agencies across London Boroughs to deliver positive outcomes

Key requirements

  • Professional qualification in social work (Degree/Masters/CQSW/Dip Social Work)
  • Registered with Social Work England or eligible to register before start
  • Post-qualification experience in children and family placements, fostering and kinship care
  • Ability to work independently and in a team, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficient IT skills and accurate record-keeping
  • Commitment to professional development and best practice through training
  • Knowledge of relevant Regulations and National Minimum Standards
  • Approachability and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organisational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to build partnerships with multiple agencies
