Location: Bromley Civic Centre
Working pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week office attendance
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, estimates, and the year-end closure of accounts.
- Provide day-to-day financial advice and support to budget holders and service managers.
- Support the Senior Accountant and Principal Finance Officer in delivering an effective finance service.
- Maintain the Council's financial systems, including: Budget input and monitoring, Budget adjustments, Journal transfers, Bank reconciliations, Other financial administration activities as required.
- Produce, analyse, and interpret financial information and reports.
- Assist with financial monitoring, forecasting, and budget management activities.
About You:
- Have experience of financial administration and financial controls within a large organisation.
- Possess a sound understanding of accounting principles, budgeting, and budgetary control.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial/accounting systems.
- Have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads effectively to meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- Be confident in analysing, interpreting, and presenting financial information.
- Ideally hold an AAT qualification or be actively studying towards a recognised accounting or finance qualification.
