We are currently recruiting Independent Visitors in Bromley and in Kent.
We are looking for people who have the time and energy to commit to doing fun activities with a child in care.
You can give your time and energy to building a long-term, rewarding, friendship with a child or young person, to offer them a wealth of positive experiences.
Children in care might have faced many challenges in their lives, including a lack of consistent, trusting relationships with adults.
As an Independent Visitor, you might be the only constant adult in a child’s life.
Our volunteers enjoy the challenge of building a lasting friendship with an individual child, and the children benefit greatly from a consistent, fun, relationship with someone outside the care system.
Activities will depend on the age and interests of the child and may include a walk in the park, a visit to a museum, bike riding, sports, etc.
Visits usually last between one and three hours per month, depending what you agree with them.
This is a one to one commitment and volunteers must be over 18 years of age.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds but particularly encourage applications from men, who are under-represented in the service.
Full training and ongoing support are given, and out-of-pocket expenses paid for travel and activities.
Volunteers will be subject to enhanced police checks.
Coram Voice is a children's charity that supports the council.
