EARLY INTERVENTION AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES

Days of the week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (plus x2 Wednesday per annum)

Daily hours: 9:30am – 1:30pm (16 hours per week)

Term time: Yes + 1 week (39 weeks)

Locations: Bromley’s six Children and Family Centres and the Civic Centre

Duration: Permanent

Salary: BR4 £25,522 - £25,703 pro rata

This is a fast pace fun and rewarding role to work across 6 Children and Families Centres supporting the development of the children across Bromley. We are looking for someone who is Early Years qualified (Level 2 minimum), highly motivated and dedicated, to join our team as part of our Early Years Team. Our Centres are in Biggin Hill, Penge, Mottingham, Bromley North, Orpington and St Paul’s Cray. You may be asked to work out of any of the 6 centres, so the ability to travel around the borough is essential. A change of venue can happen on the day if sickness impacts delivery, so flexibility to travel across Bromley is essential.

You will work with a wide range of children and their families and have an impact on their learning and development using the EYFS framework. Successful applicants will be part of a team who work together to provide an outstanding provision for the children and families. Early Years Assistants support Early Years Practitioners to run crèche sessions for children aged 0-5, and will also take the lead in facilitating Learn and Play sessions for children and their parent/carers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate must hold NVQ Level 2 or higher in Early Years, or equivalent. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • An extensive knowledge of child development and of the EYFS Framework
  • A compassionate and understanding personality, with an employment record demonstrating the ability to engage positively with children, parents and staff.
  • The ability to support children with additional needs through differentiation of delivery.
  • The ability to lead ‘Learn and Play’ sessions and inspire parents to enhance their child’s development.
  • Evidence of outstanding practice and of promoting high standards of learning.
  • The ability to interpret and deliver pre-planned Creche and Learn and Play sessions.

They must support families by modelling high quality play in Learn & Play sessions and helping parents continue this learning at home, giving children the skills and confidence they need for school readiness. In addition to having the ability to perform as detailed in the job description, you will need to be able to demonstrate that you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are able to differentiate learning to ensure the children in your care are happy, safe and in a stimulating environment. You will need to develop strong, trusting bonds with families and other support staff within the settings.

Successful candidates will be required to implement legislation and relevant policies from within London Borough Bromley and external agencies such as Department of Education and Ofsted. The ability to self-reflect and actively and positively participate in the development of the setting, the wider service and your own performance and training needs is crucial.

All appointments will be offered at the minimum salary point for the grade of the role. The only exception to this will be when matching current salary (up to the maximum of the scale), which is subject to evidential proof. The successful candidate will require a satisfactory enhanced DBS check.
