Bromley Y is a long-established charity based in Bromley that works alongside from Children, Young People, their families and/or carers as well as partner agencies to offer Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Services based on the principles of IThrive.
Bromley Y seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic mental health worker to work and train within our service. This is an exciting opportunity for a CYP Psychological Trainings Therapy Trainee (IPT) to join our team as part of the NHS England (NHSE) funded Children and Young People (CYP) Psychological Training Programmes. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide evidenced based interventions for children, young people or families using IPT-A The post holder will work with people from various cultural backgrounds, ages and ability, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equity, diversity and inclusion.
This government-funded initiative promotes the growth of the child mental health workforce to meet much needed demand. To help reach this goal, NHSE covers salary and training costs for a 1-year full-time post, allowing services to employ trainees to help implement new & expand existing specialist pathways to bridge the gaps in CYP mental health support. This is a unique opportunity to apply your learning from weekly teaching into practical clinical interventions, working with clients in the service making a direct impact in the lives of children, young people and their families. You will need to balance a demanding course with self-study and clinical work.
This full-time training will begin in January 2027 with around 2.5 days a week for academic work (teaching and personal study), and 2.5 days based at the service seeing clients related to training assignments. Trainees will be both an employee of the service and an enrolled student with Anna Freud/ University College London (UCL). Upon completion, qualified trainees will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma.
About the role
- Role: CYP – Psychological Therapies Trainee
- Salary banding: FTE is £35414.99 per annum to £43983.1395 per annum dependent on experience.
- Working pattern: 2.5 days Anna Freud/UCL University attendance, 2.5 days a week in service
- Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week.
- Contract: Fixed Term Contract: 12 months January 2027 to December 2027 (anticipated course completion)
- Location: Hybrid model
Please note the position will be based at Bromley Y, 17 Ethelbert Road Bromley BR1 1 JA and the successful candidate will be expected to travel to Anna Freud, Rodney Street, London N1 9JH for teaching during this training year.
The right candidate
The ideal candidate(s) must have:
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of Bromley, its children, young people and families.
- Core profession such as a registered social worker.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people.
- Ability to balance academic course requirements, self- study and a clinical case load.
- Excellent communication skills and teamwork focused.
