The London Borough of Bromley is seeking experienced Reviews Officers to act as caseworkers for the statutory independent reviews function in relation to the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) Part VI & VII, code of guidance, case law and policy, ensuring that decisions are consistent with the council’s statutory responsibilities.
Reporting to the Principal Housing Officer Assessment, Reviews & RS, you will support the department in ensuring services are high-performing, financially sustainable and focused on delivering positive outcomes for Bromley residents.
Key Responsibilities- Work with those requesting a review, interviewing applicants, assessing and investigating review applications and reaching decisions in line with the council’s statutory duties, ensuring robust decision making, timely reviews and continuous service improvement.
- Generate income into the service through the completion of s202 Reviews and training for other local authorities.
- Contribute effectively to writing and review of strategy, policy and procedures, including production of formal reports to Committees.
- Drive continuous improvement, performance management and value for money across the service.
- Build strong partnerships with members, internal teams, health partners, registered providers, voluntary organisations, refuges, probation, social care and other stakeholders.
- Provide confident, professional advice to elected members and officers on homelessness related matters.
- Collaborative and credentialed officer with substantial experience undertaking reviews in a timely manner within a local authority.
- Extensive knowledge and experience across housing.
- Strong understanding of housing legislation, regulation and current national policy.
- Proven ability to operate in a political environment and provide clear advice to elected members and staff.
- Strong communication and partnership-working capabilities.
