As a Project Manager in our Major Works & Capital Projects team, you will play a vital role in delivering projects that support community growth and sustainable development. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee a dynamic portfolio of construction projects. From initial project planning and procurement through to delivery and completion, you'll ensure that every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Working with a range of stakeholders, you'll address technical and regulatory challenges while maintaining clear communication and collaboration across council departments, stakeholders, contractors, and the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver construction projects, ensuring alignment with project-specific objectives and organisational requirements.
- Manage contract and procurement processes, ensuring compliance with RICS standards.
- Integrate project methodologies with established systems to maximise efficiency.
- Prepare and negotiate terms and conditions for engaging consultants and contractors.
- Ensure compliance with current health and safety legislation and property regulations.
- Utilise advanced IT systems, including project management tools and AutoCAD.
- Manage contractor performance to meet project milestones and quality standards.
- Monitor project costing, budget control, and expenditure.
- Produce clear and concise reports with actionable recommendations.
- Negotiate favourable terms with contractors and suppliers.
- Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Identify and implement innovative solutions to project challenges.
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Project management qualification and professional membership of a relevant association.
- Proven expertise in office administration, project management, and resource allocation.
- Strong financial acumen and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
