Overview: The Councils Building Control team deliver the statutory Building Control functions as well as dealing with the majority of the building regulations applications in the borough. The Building Control sector has experienced significant change following the Grenfell Enquiry and the introduction of the Building Safety Act. Bexley is well placed to meet these challenges with an ambitious service improvement plan which has ensured the successful registration of its building inspectors and continuing investment in staff and processes to further enhance professional standards and customer service.

Two registered building inspectors are required to undertake restricted functions and restricted activities as appropriate to the level of their competency. Other building control related activities as required, with supervision for activities outside current competency levels to ensure continuing professional development. Help cultivate good working relationships with key internal and many external partners and provide excellent customer service.

Location: Bexley Civic Offices.

Remuneration: The market premium level will be assessed through the recruitment process.

Candidate Profile: This is an excellent opportunity for someone with existing building control experience who is looking to develop their career in an ambitious and forward-thinking local authority. You will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team that deals with all aspects of the building control function. If your application is successful, you will be appointed at the appropriate scale and starting salary, depending on your competency level, skills and experience. The Council is particularly interested in applicants that have achieved Class 2 competency to at least categories A to D.
