We are seeking an experienced and motivated Consultant Social Worker to join our Assessment and Intervention Service. This is a key practice leadership role where you will support high-quality frontline safeguarding work while developing the next generation of social workers. You will have a central role in ensuring strong, timely, and analytical assessments and interventions for children and families.

A key part of the role will be providing direct support, mentoring, and supervision to four newly qualified social workers (ASYEs), helping them build confidence, skills, and professional resilience. This role is ideal for a practitioner who is passionate about developing others, improving practice standards, and leading by example.

About you:

  • Play a key role in shaping practice and influencing service improvement
  • Support and develop newly qualified social workers at a critical stage in their careers
  • Work in a supportive environment that values reflection, learning, and development
  • Be part of a service focused on high standards, innovation, and positive outcomes for children
  • Work in partnership with health, education, police, and wider agencies to safeguard children
  • Contribute to child protection and care planning processes, ensuring timely and effective interventions
  • Provide practice leadership and oversight within the Assessment and Intervention Service
  • Deliver reflective supervision, mentoring, and day-to-day support to four ASYEs
  • Act as a role model for high-quality, relationship-based and strengths-based practice
  • Support the completion of complex assessments, including viability, parenting, and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments where required
