Barking and Dagenham Trading Partnership (aka as BD Group) is a property and facilities services group that serves the communities of Barking and Dagenham by providing responsive home repairs and maintenance, healthy catering for schools, and cleaning services while creating opportunities for local people to live, work, and grow for a fulfilling future.
BDTP is an autonomous business with a private sector governance structure headed by an independent Non-Executive Chair and Board and is wholly owned by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. BDTP aims to combine the best of private sector commercial approaches and customer focus but with a public service ethos. A new Chair is sought to take the Group into the next stage of its journey.
Whilst the BD Group companies cover a wide range of activity, it would be particularly desirable for the Chair to have knowledge and experience of the repairs and maintenance sector – due to the critical nature of the service. The Chair will be expected to take responsibility for leadership of the Board, ensure that the strategic direction of the company is identified and implemented and the Shareholder’s objectives delivered; ensure the appropriate governance procedures are established and maintained and develop the company’s external relationships in conjunction with the Chief Executive.
We’re especially interested in applications from you if you have:
- Experience of the repairs and maintenance industry
- Fundraising, marketing or communications skills or experience
