Overview: We are a successful, forward-thinking firm of residential managing agents who have built our client base by managing our clients' properties as if they were our own. We are looking for a Legal Assistant to join our dynamic and diverse residential property team based in Angel, which is centrally located and easy to access via various means of transport. Playing a pivotal role within the residential property team, the Legal Assistant will provide invaluable support to colleagues and clients alike. This role demands a high level of attention to detail and accuracy, both written and numeric.
Role Requirements:
- Confident in working autonomously / independently to meet ever changing deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and prioritise assignments.
- Sound interpersonal and communication skills.

- IT literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office; proficiency in the use of HM Land Registry Business e-services is highly desirable.
- Proficient in reading leases and identifying salient alienation provisions.
- Degree qualified (2.1 and above); a law degree is highly desirable.
DayβtoβDay Responsibilities:
- Pre Completion:
- Receiving instructions from the solicitors / licensed conveyancers in connection with the sale / re-mortgaging of properties held under management.
- Accurately identifying various alienation provisions applicable to the disposition.
- Preparing both Leasehold Property Enquiries (LPE1) and Freehold Management Enquiries (FME1).
- Collating various and applicable document enclosures.
- Liaising with both the accounts department and the individual property managers to ensure the accuracy of the information disclosed within the LPE1 and FME1.
- Replying to additional enquiries raised, leading to the eventual exchange of contracts and sale of the property.
- Post Completion:
- Ensuring that all alienation provisions set out within the lease, as disclosed within the LPE1 and FME1, have been complied with.
- Ensuring that any arrears of ground rent and / or service charges are settled in full.
- Receipting notices of assignment / charge.
- Preparing Certificates of Compliance for registration purposes at HM Land Registry.
- Facilitating the transfer and issuance of membership / share certificates, including liaising with our client directors regarding the signing of the said certificates.
- General:
- Ensuring that all requests for LPE1 and FME1 are logged centrally and tracked through to completion.
- Ensuring that invoices for fees are raised and settled timeously and pursued where payment exceeds our payment terms.
- Developing a robust approvals process to ensure accuracy and accountability for final documents produced.
- Monthly reporting to Directors.
