Overview

The L&Q Apprenticeship Programme has been designed to help you get the career you have always wanted. This role provides the opportunity to start a new career path with a valued-led organisation that will support you to learn and develop throughout the programme and beyond.

We are looking for four Apprentice Property Maintenance Operatives to join L&Q in our maintenance team and to gain experience in multi-trades. You will be carrying out routine maintenance tasks; minor planned and responsive repair works to L&Q housing stock throughout the Manchester Region.

As an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative, you will receive training to enable you to support the team in providing a first-class service to our customers and will be expected to assist in a broad range of fundamental trade skills including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works and associated finishing trades including tiling, painting, and decorating to L&Qs housing stock.

The successful candidates will be working under instruction and supervision, with the aim of eventually taking responsibility for their own work (where appropriate, and within their assessed abilities and skill set). This will include carrying out day-to-day repairs, working with various materials and associated products to learn to create and install building components assisting with installations and repairs.

Apprenticeship details: Level 2, Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship

This apprenticeship role offers a 2.5-year fixed term contract, during this time you will undertake a Level 2, Property Maintenance Operative. The apprenticeship learning will support your development and chosen career path. Whilst undertaking the apprenticeship, your manager will help guide your development and day-to-day work. You will also be assigned a mentor who will provide extra support throughout your role whilst you'll be working alongside experienced colleagues to learn hands-on, work-based skills.

  • Ideally GCSEs in English and Maths, Grade C / Grade 4 or above.

Other essential information:

  • Must be able to work in the UK.
  • To qualify for apprenticeship funding, the individual must have a valid and eligible residency status. This usually requires residency in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is not a requirement for application of this apprenticeship programme, however following completion, a full UK Driving Licence will be required to be considered for progression to a Trainee position.
  • Successful candidates will be given a start date in August.
