Emergency Medical Technician - Clinical Hub Support

We are seeking motivated and clinically focused EMTs to join a new pilot role within the Clinical Hub at Newham EOC. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside CSMs, CAs, and ECCs within the Clinical Safety Pod, supporting the safe and timely management of METPOL calls.

We currently receive approximately 410 calls per day via the CADLINK from the Metropolitan MPS. These calls require prompt triage, with a target response time of 10 minutes. As with all 999 contacts, CADLINK referrals are subject to the same criteria.

In this role, you will work within your existing scope of practice to gather and assess information, produce accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation, and follow established pathways and procedures. You will play a key role in identifying and escalating risks appropriately, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.

Successful candidates will receive training in the use of Cleric and will work across multiple digital platforms and systems within a fast-paced operational environment. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to broaden your clinical knowledge, enhance your decision-making skills, and gain valuable experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical team.

Successful applicants will be required to work the established Clinical Advisor roster, following a DDNN shift pattern, and must be able to commute to the Newham Dockside site.

Job responsibilities

To deliver emergency and urgent care to a wide range of patient groups. Whereappropriate, patients will be assessed and treated at the point of contact or referred onto another healthcare provider. Where necessary, patients should be conveyed totreatment centres, hospitals and emergency departments according to their needs.

The post holder will work as an independent practitioner; alongside either an HCPCregistered Paramedic or other suitably qualified member of staff in the provision of highquality effective clinical care, including the transportation of patients in line with UKAmbulance Services Clinical Practice Guidelines and service policy.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Accreditations, Education

  • Successful completion of an accredited Trainee Emergency Medical
  • Technician programme or equivalent

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working as a Technician within the health

  • Demonstrable interpersonal communication and social skills (including
  • Demonstrable ability to handle stressful/sensitive situations with tact,
  • diplomacy and assertiveness

Knowledge and Skills

  • Evidence of reliability

Personal Abilities

  • Able to undertake rotating shifts covering 24 hours a day, including shift
  • changes at short notice in line with the current arrangements
  • Understand the need for service policies and procedures
